University of Miami Pre-College offers credit and non-credit programs for high achieving high school students who are active in their communities, leaders in their schools, and examples of integrity.
Individuals should be self-motivated and prepared to study an academic discipline in a rigorous scholarly program, while earning college credit.
An F-1 student visa is required for non-U.S. citizens/permanent residents applying to the Summer Scholars Three-Week Credit Program only (a B1/B2/ESTA visa cannot be used). If admitted into Summer Scholars Three-Week Credit Program, the Pre-College office will send students an I-20 form to assist with obtaining their F-1 student visa. If a student is admitted and does not obtain an F-1 visa prior to arrival, they will not be able to complete the Summer Scholars Three-Week Credit Program and will be withdrawn. Applicants admitted to the UM Academies Two-Week Non-Credit Program do not require a student visa. However, a TOEFL or IELTS score is still required for non-native English speakers. For any questions or doubts about the visa process, please email precollege@miami.edu as soon as possible.
